Church Library

Does your church have a library. It is not that hard to start one. All you need is a few bookshelves and donations from members of old and unused books. Many people leave books in boxes after they are done with them. They have children's books which have long been unneeded. Also as people move up to having DVDs and CDs there are a lot of cassette tapes and videos which could also find a home in the church library. Not all church libraries have to have only religious content. Put a few comfortable furnishings, some tables and chairs, and maybe even a little refreshment stand near the books and you have a fellowship place at little to no cost. Appeal for the stuff you need, God answers our needs and you will never get if you do not ask till you do.

Funding New Items for the Library

  • Run a refreshment stand of juice boxes and cans as well as chocolate bars and other packaged treats.
  • Have a yearly bake sale or jumble sale of donated items.
  • Have a donation box to allow people to donate for new items. You can even have a pad nearby where people can suggest books, etc to buy
  • Keep asking for content! Someone may be finished with a recent book and if asked would consider donating it for others to enjoy.
