Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Holidays, when school is out can be the perfect time to run a VBS at your
church. Whether it is a day, weekend or longer. Children getting together
at the church while parents are at work or just to be together during the
holidays. How a VBS is run and what it can include does vary. Normally
it is treated much like if kids were going to school, with the same hours.
There are classes on the bible, crafts, sports, and even drama. It is a
great way to have fun and learn about God with other children. Much like
Sunday School, but taking it a step further and making a real day of it.
Many VBS programs are a week long and it is possible to obtain books to
follow if a set program is required. It is also nice to end the week with
a fun evening for the family, which will allow the children to show what
they have done and where. A short presentation of songs, skits/sketches, etc
is a nice added touch to the family evening.
